Director of Test Prep, Senior Tutor
B.A. in Psychology, Yale University
I became an educator because I’ve experienced firsthand how transformative it is to feel seen, supported, and empowered in your learning journey. I grew up as a STEM-obsessed student who also loved the arts, a bilingual kid navigating two cultures and two languages, and one of the only few Asian kids in my town. These early experiences shaped my understanding of what it means to belong in a learning space and fueled my passion for equity, access, and advocacy in education.

At Yale, I earned my B.S. in Psychology and conducted research at the intersection of psycholinguistics and the psychology of prejudice. I also pursued my love for the arts and education outside the classroom: I mentored first-year students at Yale’s Asian American Cultural Center and founded Hangarak, Yale’s first Korean music a cappella group.

After graduating, I was inspired to continue working at the intersection of academic support and student empowerment. I worked in NYC as an SAT/ACT senior tutor for a college counseling admissions consultancy company, where I led the development of the company’s SAT test prep curricula. I also spearheaded civic education workshops, reaching thousands of students nationwide, and I worked closely with families to support students' academic journeys. I am currently running a group writing program for middle school students, helping them to enjoy reading outside of school while also learning how write academically. What I value most in these experiences is the chance to positively influence my students’ relationship to education–especially during one of the most stressful times in their academic lives.

Whether I’m tutoring math, reading, writing, or test prep, I bring patience, humor, and encouragement to every session. My guiding value is that learning isn’t about perfection–it’s about practice, care, and a belief that you can grow no matter what. I specialize in helping students build confidence, particularly those who feel discouraged in school and those who might believe school wasn’t made for them. I know learning is emotional, so I bring deep listening and encouragement to every student interaction. My goal is for students to walk away from each session feeling more capable, more understood, and more empowered than when they arrived.

Outside of work, I’m usually experimenting in the kitchen, writing my first novel, singing K-pop covers, or mastering my uppercut at the boxing gym. I also have a soft spot for cat cafés, cold brew, and flaky pastries.
