B.A. Chemical Biology at UC Berkeley
Ph.D Chemistry & Chemical Biology at UC San Francisco
As both a scientist and an educator, I’ve always been driven by curiosity and compassion. I grew up in the South Bay and still remember the moment I fell in love with science, which was as a child attending a summer camp hosted by San José State University. Learning how to ask meaningful questions, test ideas through experimentation, and see the world through the lens of discovery left a lasting impression on me. That passion continued through high school and led me to study Chemical Biology at UC Berkeley and eventually earn my Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology at UCSF.

Throughout my academic journey, I was lucky to be guided by mentors and teachers who supported me both intellectually and emotionally. Their belief in me taught me that the most powerful kind of education goes beyond the classroom: it nurtures confidence, resilience, and a sense of possibility. That experience has deeply shaped my philosophy as an educator today.

I’ve been involved in education for over a decade, starting with volunteering at a literacy program at the Milpitas Library for K–6 students. Since then, I’ve taught science lessons in public schools, mentored high school students in research settings, and even taught graduate-level chemistry discussions and lectures. Whether I’m working with young learners or college students, I’ve always prioritized adapting to the needs of the individual and helping each student find their own learning style.

Beyond academics, I also have a background in mental health advocacy. While at UC Berkeley, I served as a volunteer coordinator for a campus organization focused on suicide prevention and mental wellness. Through that work, I developed a strong belief that emotional well-being is foundational to academic success. I approach tutoring with this in mind: creating a calm, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress.
At Joyful Mind Tutors, I work closely with students to build both subject mastery and self-confidence. I believe that with the right support system, all students can not only meet expectations, but exceed them.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, exploring nature, working out, and trying new restaurants. I bring the same balance, patience, and joy to my tutoring sessions, and I look forward to helping your child grow and succeed in their own unique way.
